Do you have any plans for this character in the game? Her primary goal is to find her brother, with a secondary goal of finding the rest of her crew. She wants to get her hands on a map to the city if possible, so she can separate it into sections for more successful and efficient searching. She would also like to discover how they got here, what the owl’s true purpose might have been, and how exactly the city works. A lot of math will be involved with this. A lot of testing (and failing) theories.

Character's Personality: River is... interesting. She is erratic, due to a combination of PTSD and her brain being experimented on. She often speaks in what sound like riddles, but they are things that make sense to her. If asked, she might be able to explain how she's arrived at that particular phrase, at that particular moment, but her brain sometimes makes complicated leaps of logic that frustrate and confuse even her.
There are good days and bad days. On her good days, River is everyone's little sister. She's friendly and curious, asking questions about anything and everything. Things should make sense, and if she doesn't know it, she wants to know it. If she does know, she'll happily talk to you for hours about it. Oftentimes she'll come out with a seemingly random fact, though in her head she's made half a dozen connections to arrive from point A to point B. To her, that fact is useful and relevant to the current conversation. She's contributing, she's being polite and conforming to societal norms as she's supposed to. River sometimes gets upset that her efforts cannot always be seen by others.
On her bad days, she's flighty and nervous, like a feral animal. Everything is dangerous, everyone is an enemy. She'll strike out if touched, or if she perceives something as a threat. Mostly she tries to keep to herself, preferring to curl up in a space that feels safe. That space might be a cabinet or it might be under her bed. Usually it's anywhere her brother, Simon, is. Simon is safe. Simon is home. He is, in fact, the only piece of home she has left, and so she clings to him as tightly as possible.
River's greatest strength is also her weakness: she's incredibly smart. Astronomically so. Even her brother Simon, who is a surgeon and dedicated his life to learning, admits that he isn't as intelligent, with all his book learning, as River is naturally. This is what lead her to be experimented on by The Academy. She had a good mind for facts and figures, able to do complex math inside her head in moments. She adapts quickly and is able to learn as she goes.
However, being able to hold on to so much knowledge is oftentimes a detriment. She is easily misunderstood because she makes connections some don't, or can't. She gets frustrated when she's unable to convey her thoughts in ways that people are able to interpret properly. Part of this is because of the experiments done on her brain, and part of it is simply River's brain moving too quickly for her mouth to keep up. She knows what she wants to say, but somewhere between thinking it and speaking it, there is a disconnect.
Because of the experiments at The Academy, River has little to no control over her emotions. She can feel everything, often all at once. This is extremely aggravating, even harmful, because she cannot regulate or control what she feels or when she feels it. It makes her feel outside of her own body, at times. She knows she isn't normal, she knows something has been done to make her this way, but she can't fix it and it only leads to further anger and frustration. Everything compounds until she can't handle it anymore and has one of her breakdowns. She cries or screams or lashes out physically because there is simply too much inside her, too many thoughts and feelings, and she has no other way of expressing it.
Because of her telepathy, she can also feel the emotions of those around her, which is overwhelming at best and devastating at the worst. She has nothing to filter her own emotions, so when they combine with the emotions of others, it causes her to feel crippled by them. She feels trapped, unable to escape her own mind.
Overall, River is incredibly loyal. If she counts you as a friend, she will do just about anything for you. She is slow to trust because of her trauma, and because her fight or flight reflex has been incredibly heightened, but she wants to make friends. She wants to be able to be a normal girl who can meet people and not be afraid. To run and laugh and play and dance and not have to worry about being a weapon anymore.
